What stops Benvolio from approaching Romeo?

    I would say D: Benvolio noticed that Romeo purposely hid from him because this line, "Towards him I made; but he was ware of me," shows that Romeo new that Benvolio was coming. " And stole into the covert of the wood," sounds like Romeo went into hiding once he became aware of him.
