Telemachus asked Menelaus about his father and he said that his father is most likely dead or in ... I can't remember the name of the city. Menelaus knew that his father Odysseus was not going to be in the city. Telemachus went to Menelaus because he trusted him. But when Menelaus sent his son with Telemachus to the city Menelaus's son took all of the supplies after dropping Telemachus off in the middle of the desert.
