Chapter 4 shows that in the 1890s, women excelled in bicycle racing, despite some disapproval. Women cyclists were very competitive with each other, and they worked to break each other’s records. Although large numbers turned out to watch women’s cycling races, some people thought that women should not participate in races. Even so, women continued to be fierce competitors.

The ladies exceeded expectations in bike hustling, notwithstanding some objection. Ladies cyclists were extremely focused with each other, and they attempted to break each other's records. Albeit extensive numbers ended up watching ladies' cycling races, a few people felt that ladies ought not to take an interest in races. All things being equal, ladies kept on being wild contenders.
