    Yes, I do think that using similes and metaphors in writing can add a creative expression in one's writing. These two things allow you to compare and contrast in writing while still maintaining a smooth piece of writing. Some examples of commonly used similes are "a s American as apple pie", "as big as an elephant", and "as blind as a bat". Some example of commonly used metaphors are "s ilent as the grave", "time is money", "he is a pig", and "y ou are my sunshine".
