Gender influences our perception of ourselves and others because we have these stereotypical standards for each gender roles. As for ourselves if we are a man we are expected to be tough, have no emotion, and to be dominat in any given situation the typical alpha male. When it comes to being a female we are expect to be home makers, dainty, and polite servant to society and man. Now, with others they perceived a male to be tough it would be odd and automatically assumed if they did not fit the traits listed above they would be gay as for example if they are a cheerleader or we would find them odd or unmanly if they want to be the stay at home dad. As for females if they are not well trim and having makeup we view them as manly and if they are strong will and rough and tumble we think there is something mentally wrong with them. Gender influences the way we raise our children here since you are a boy you get trucks and soliders and since you are a girl you get dolls and a teapot.
