"A large wave caught him and flung him with ease and supreme speed completely over the bpoat and far beyond it."; A wave is not human but it "caught him" and "flung him".

Although if this is not an option is may also be "It struck him with ease as an event in gymnastics, and a true miaracle of the sea." because it says that it struck him. I would need someone to decide between these two but I would say the first response.
