Frankenstein was always very interested in natural philosophy. After going to Inglostadt to study, Frankenstein is in one of M Waldman's lectures when he is first inspired to create life. Frankenstein wanted to "pioneer a new way, explore unknown powers, and unfold to the world the deepest mysteries of creation". Frankenstein's response to the monster can be interpreted in many ways.

Maybe it was because the creature was just so hideous. Maybe it was because the monster embodies Frankenstein's horrible mistake. You have to make up your own mind.
