What I got was : basically, 'titan' in the word titanic means gigantic. huge. titans in Greek mythology were strong, powerful, immortal, and god-like deities, and they were brought down by the Gods. That is the greek mythology that the word 'Titanic' is derived from.

What I would consider ironic and quite frankly, interesting, is the fact that the Titanic (ship) was large and strong-and it sunk, never to be seen ever again, it's glory reduced to nothingness. And the same goes for the titans : they were glorious, arrogant, and huge, and even then they were sunk, or rather, lowered by the Gods of Greek Mythology.
