Why are there square brackets around the first letter of a word?

    Usually indicates that the sentence was part of a quote where the first letter is not at the beginning of the sentence. So they do the [] to compensate. We do this so we do not lie.

    Say that you wanted to quote me right here.

    "[T]o quote me right here" would be appropriate.
