My Prize is Gold

Aha! Do you see it? Do you know?

I was forced to shape it in squares, so I planted it in love.

Yes! It's entrenched deep with my secrets, straight in rows.

Over yonder; just in the sunlight.

By the old barn, no not adjacent; I planted this above.

Aha! Do you see it? Do you know?

It is almost time now.

Look through. Look at. Look up. Look down.

Sweetness. Oh so sweet, it is all around.

My prize-drops of delicious gold on the loosened ground.

Aha! Do you see it? Do you know?

I'll share my prize

With you.

We will go through every last stalk

but my love, it is almost night

and we must retire until the morning light.

It is a metaphor because in the opening sentence the author states, "my prize is gold" he is comparing it in the whole poem to gold or riches, but he never uses like or as to compare.
