Why are plays divided into acts and scenes? to slow down the pace of the play to make directors and actors happy to force the audience to stay to organize the plot of the play

    They are divided so as to allow the set to be changed ie setting of the play for example scene 1 could be in the pool while scene 2 is in the beach. also, sometimes it creates an act of suspense
