What does Macbeth see on his way to kill the king that forces him to pause?

    A. An imaginary dagger.

    Macbeth says "is this a dagger I see before me, the handle towards my hand" before he goes to kill the King. So he is clearly hallucinating a dagger because later he says "A dagger of the mind, a false creation."
