Tragedy as a genre includes stories, novels, and plays that present all different aspects of human suffering. The protagonist, or hero, undergoes several unfortunate events that lead up to the major tragedy. Usually the ending is death, but other less severe results can also count as tragedy, as long as they include suffering.
