Explanation:

This event best fits the falling action. In Chapter VII, we learn that Thornton has now become Buck's master, and Buck transitions into the last part of his life before returning fully to the wild. He is happy with Thornton, and admires him. Moreover, the two of them travel into the wilderness, deep in the Canadian forest. However, Thornton is eventually killed by a group of Yeehat Indians. After Thornton's death, Buck finally returns to the wild, becoming the leader of a pack of wolves.
