My answer is for ruby - People maybe people worked more hard to earn the luck they got

My answer for Tom - Tom feels as if he been working to get that luck today

If it's a love story my answer will be Ruby feels as if Tom is lucky to have her, and Tom is glad to have her (it's a guess)
