    A. "Duty had conquered; the spirit had said to the body: "Peace, be still. "He fired."

    Explanation:

"A Horseman in the Sky" is a short story written by Ambrose Bierce. The story takes place during the American secession war and tells the story of a soldier who was mistaken for death when he was falling asleep while searching for enemy soldiers. Upon waking this soldier ended up visualizing someone from the enemy army and decided to kill him. This moment when the character decides to kill the man or not is a moment that shows how this soldier advances in the story and the quote that most represents this is: "Duty had conquered; the spirit had said to the body: "Peace, be still. "He fired."

The answer would be A. "Duty had conquered; The spirit had said to the body: "Peace, be still." He fired."

    Explanation:

This is because it foreshadows and or simply states the fact that he shot the horseman after remembering a statement that his father told him.

I also know because I literally just finished the Quiz.
