What does Jack imply about the hierarchy of the island society when he says, "We know who ought to say things ... It's time some people knew they've got to keep quiet and leave deciding things to the rest of us"? (102).

    The word hierarchy is a system or organization in which people or groups are ranked one above the other according to status or authority. Key word, rank. I think what jack is implying is that no one is above or below the other one. Everyone should have/be able to have freedom of speech no matter in "what rank they are"
