George Orwell's Farm Rebellion book describes animals that live in a totalitarian system where a human exploits them, giving animals what little they need for their support. The animals submit, because the human is the one who feeds and maintains, all for his benefit. This is how in totalitarian regimes, the owner is the one who benefits from the work of others.
