What is your impression of the Dursley's? How does your opinion change from the first chapter to the third chapter?

How does J. K. Rowling foreshadow the introduction of magic in the first 3 chapters? Give 3 examples of times she gave you a hint that this book would be about magic.

What do you think of our protagonist, Harry? How do you think his character has been shaped by his life with the Dursley's? How would his life have been different if he had been raised with another wizarding family - how would his personality have turned out differently? (i. e. Would he have been more full of himself? Would he have been less hard working?)

How does J. K. Rowling create suspense in these chapters? What are we waiting for? Do you think you would have been less interested if Harry had been told right away that he is a wizard? Why or why not?
