    Answer: TKM is in many ways a story of good and evil. The good being the Finches; Scout, Jem, Atticus, Tom Robinson, while the bad is people like the Ewells.

    Killing a mockingbird is a metaphor for good and innocence being "killed" by evil; since a mockingbird is such an innocent and harmless creature, killing it is evil
