    The meaning of the description is that the clothes worn by Mrs. Flowers looked great on her and fitted her perfectly well, as much denim overalls for farm work fitted any farmer. The part of the description referring to a farmer is a like a simile which was used to make the description of Mrs. Flowers more vivid.
