B. It relates the history of a group of Hebrews who migrated from Jerusalem to America about 600 bce, led by a prophet, Lehi. They multiplied and eventually split into two groups. According to the book itself, this history and the teachings of Jesus were abridged and written on gold plates by the prophet Mormon.
