Before her death in 1919, see was considered the wealthiest African-American businesseswoman in America.

Her cosmetics business employed over 3,000 people, a sector which today makes billions of dollars in annual sales.

One of the challenges she faced was the fact that she lost both of her parents at the age of seven. At age 10 she had already started walking as a domestic servant and by age 14 she was forced into marriage.

Despite this challenges, Walker displayed a strong determination to succeed, a quality shown by heroes who are United, Noble and True.
