Which of the following is an example of indirect characterization?

A) The firefighter refused to the leave the child, who was clinging to his sleeve, alone in the wreckage despite shouts from the crowd that the gasoline was leaking.

B) The child was only 7, small for his age, but very verbal and sociable. He talked to strangers readily, a habit which frightened his parents.

C) The mother was distracted by the cell phone, daily chores, he 7 year old chattering in the back seat; she was entirely unprepared to encounter a drunk driver.

D) Rescue officers had been successful: the brave fireman had rushed into the accident area to pull the hysterical woman out of the space where the front windshield once was.
