A cause and effect relationship is when something happens that makes something else happen.
Explanation:
Basically cause Creates the effect. This relationship is used in informational context. for example when the weather is cold, a person may start to shiver. In this example cold weather is the cause and shivering is the effect from the cold weather (cause).
