    You want everyone's opinion to be heard, so you want the people in the argument to open their minds. Saying this, if they listen to you, will open their minds to hear what the other people in the argument have to say.

    By saying this in a group discussion, you make sure people open their minds to what other have to say and they would stop thinking that what they are saying is the only correct answer. Never say that nobody's listening because that would offend to people that are actually listening.
