I do believe and agree in what Winston Churchill said about "success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm". Everything in life follows the rule of trial and error. In order to understand something (a process or anything in life) we need to try to do it first, and if we fail at it, then we understand and acknowledge what not to do the next time. The trial and error method teach us what not to do (or how can we avoid the same mistakes) and how we could do it better. For example, most videogames are based on the trial and error process. In order to complete the challenge or to win successfully, you need to be aware of every single action and decision you make, and if you fail at it, you learn from your mistakes and do it better the next time. "Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again" - Nelson Mandela.
