    Rosetta Stone was a key element in the discovery of much of Egyptian history which was unknown until its discovery. the book 'The Riddle of Rosetta Stone' described the story of its discovery and translation.

    it was discovered by the French while tearing down an old fort. In the aftermath of the French surrender to British, It was handed over to General Hutchinson of England by General Menou saying that he should have it as his forces proved to be the stronger of the two.
