One of the three rioters said these words.

    Explanation:

"The Canterbury Tales" by Geoffrey Chaucer is a collection of tales told by the pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. "The Pardoner's Tale" is also one part of the collection.

The Pardoner starts his tale by telling the story of three rioters on the lookout for a man named "Death" and wanted to kill him. The quote given in the question is said by one of the rioters when he first heard about the death of one of his old 'friend'. This lines also tells of the pact that he and the other two rioters made, to become "brothers" and look for this "Death", the harvester of many lives.
