Read the excerpt from "The Turtle." she knows she is a part of the pond she lives in, the tall trees are her children, the birds that swim above her are tied to her by an unbreakable string. Which deeper meaning do these lines express? The natural world follows an endless cycle of life and death. Animals are often unaware of the important role they play in nature. All living things are connected in a constant and continuous way. Nature makes it difficult for humans to connect to animals.
