In the poem Oranges by Gary Soto, it says

"I peeled my orange that was so bright against the gray of December that from some distance someone might've thought I was making a fire in my hands."

What could this mean, like think of a deeper meaning to it?

    This could be a reflection of how he is feeling. Warmth because he managed to buy that candy for his girlfriend.

    It could also signify hope.
