Read each sentence and decide if it is a paradox or an oxymoron. Explain the meaning of the paradox or oxymoron. 1. The scientist assured his assistant that, though the lab was messy, there was a method to his madness. 2. Before signing off at the end of his show, the deejay announced that there would be a guest host the next morning.

    Number one is a paradox, number two an oxymoron. For number two it says 'guest host' and those are opposites, so it's an oxymoron. For number one he's saying 'there's a method to his madness' which is self contradictory.
