First, there is a gap here:

Puritanism? the wealth, power, and authority of Catholicism and the Church of England.

I think that this is best filled with "rejected" - as they rejected the authority of the Catholic Church.

However, I am also considering "aimed to acquire" as the Puritans did not reject money or did not seek poverty specifically although they valued frugal life.
