The steps of the hero's journey occur in this order:

Ordinary World: The hero is an ordinary person and in this step, he has an ordinary life before the story begins. We can learn about his lifestyle and his opinion of the world. Call To Adventure: The hero's ordinary and peaceful life is disrupted. He gets a call about a possible threat or danger for his community, family or friends. He has been called for action. Refusal Of The Call: The hero does not pay much attention to this call. He prefers to stay "at home". He chooses between this comfort and the possible danger outside. Meeting The Mentor: The hero meets a person or gets an object. These will give the hero the necessary advice and strenght to face the dangers outside. Crossing The Threshold: He finally faces the dangerous adventure away from home. This can be physical, emotional or spiritual. Tests, Allies, Enemies: The hero has to face obstacles. These can be physical, emotional or spiritual and they will challenge the hero's strenghts. Approach To The Inmost Cave: The hero must face his deep fears. This is a reflection step. The hero evaluates the situation because he has to face too much danger. Ordeal: This is the most difficult step. The hero has to overcome the most fearful or dangerous enemy to continue. If he does not face this obstacle, he can die. The hero can suffer from a special "death" and he can be reborn. This rebirth can give the hero special powers to defeat the enemy. In this way, he can save his family, friends or he can return to his ordinary life. Reward (Seizing The Sword) : The hero has overcome the first difficulty and is awarded with a prize. This can be an object or some information, or a person - the hero's love-. However, the hero can not celebrate his final victory; there is still a leg of his journey to cross. He cannot go bak to his ordinary life, yet. The Road Back: The hero comes back but he needs ro show his followers the results of his journey. He is judged. He faces the ultimate test and he still has to choose bewteen his life and a Higher Order cause. Resurrection: The hero faces the final battle. If he wins, he will save his life and the life of others, but if he loses, he may die but others will suffer the consequences too. Therefore, his victory goes beyond his personal life. Finally, the hero wins and emerges from battle. He is reborn. Return With The Elixir: The hero gets back to his ordinary life. He is not the same person, though. He has learnt a lot and he has become more experienced and stronger. His success will also bring the others benefits.
