A pie chart is a circular statistical graph, in which a whole circle is divided into sections, with each section representing a part of the whole circle. The best time to use a pie chart is when one is trying to show the percentages or proportions of a particular data or information. When using a pie chart, it is ideal if the circle does not have more than six different segments. For instance, using a pie chart will be very beneficial in a situation, where one is trying to compare the percentage of profits of four different companies. The pie chart will be appropriate in this case, because it will allow the users of the information to see at a glance the differences that exist among the profits made by the four companies.
