In John Steinbeck's "The Turtle," what does the turtle do when the sedan swerves to avoid it?

    In that short story written by the well know novelist, John Steinbeck, the turtle hides in it's shell when the woman makes herself aside trying not to go through the turtle. This title is an allegory, where every written word has a symbolic meaning, and many US citizens consider it part of the anthology of american literature.
