    It was johnny. He was very quiet, because he had an a. b. u. s. i. v. e. father and a while back, a mean soc named bob and his gang b. e. a. t him ruthlessly.

    I would say Johnny, who is the "pet/puppy" of the gang, even though Ponyboy is also more on the reserved side compared to the other Greasers.
