The removal of wolves from northern Wisconsin changed the make up of plants in the forest because without the wolves hunting animals such as deer the populations grew too large and the increasing amount of deer ate an increasing amount of vegetation upsetting the natural balance of the food chain.

Wolves are the predators of deer, and without wolves, more deer survived and ate more forest plants.
