    The change of ethnicity in the United States during the 1960s made Americans more accepting of Hispanics. From the decade of 1950 to 1960 the number of hispanics in the United States almost doubled.

    Also, originally the Mexican / hispanic / latino population of the U. S. were primarily located in the South western states, such as Texas and Florida. However, starting in 1940, the hispanic population increased dramatically in many U. S. states both inside and outside of the south west. A few examples of this states are: Arizona, New Mexico, California and Colorado.
