    The dog was afraid to enter the house, but when Gordon called him in a low, gentle voice, he entered the door in confidence. since that night until when the dog itself died, during the time of the great storm that was a few years later, he loved Gordon Low as once he had loved the lonely trapper of Caucomgomoc.
