The author shows nature as a very peaceful and beautiful thing when he writes "the recent buds relax and spread". However, the poem goes into a more philosophical note when he starts to write how the trees eventually die. Still, the author brings the poem back into a mood of hope when he says that they come back every May, "in full grown thickness".
