Dexter's material success gave him status and fame but not the real and true happiness. Materialistic culture should be avoided

    Explanation:

Dexter is the main character in the story "Winter dreams" written by Fitzgerald. Dexter has been portrayed as a Materialistic character. He is very desperate who wants to be successful.

Dexter became successful but at the cost of his happiness. So Material success fulfills dexter's desires but took away the real peace and happiness from him. Based on this story we can say that one should be materialistic but only up to a limited extent, Otherwise, it might lead to disastrous consequences like Dexter's life who deliberately created obstacles in his happiness.
