What does Candy say will happen to him when he is too old to work? How are Candy and his dog similar? How does this make you feel sympathy for Candy?

Candy says he will get canned once he is too old to work, meaning he'll be fired. He is similar to his dog because his dog is on the older side like him. This makes us feel sympathy for him because it's already hard enough for him to keep his job because of how old he is and also because of how badly people of color were treated back then, meaning he had to work even harder, and once he's too old to work and gets fired he most likely will not be able to find work some place else.
