The Justice Fortas was an associate justice of Supreme Court of the US. During 1965 students wore armbands to express their discontent with war, the schooling system attempted to suspend them but Justice Fortas ruled in favor of the students because:

The answer to number two is that Justice Black believes that there were in fact disruptions as a result of students wearing armbands and also he believes that states should be free to make laws for their schools as they see fit without the Supreme Court overruling them.
