Mitch handed me a blanket and said, "As soon as we pitch the tent, you can change into dry clothes." I wrapped the blanket around my chilled, wet body and listened to my stomach growl while envisioning Uncle Ray falling into the river instead of me. I wanted to leave, but knew we were too far to hike back to the truck tonight. From this short excerpt what does the reader learn about the author of this personal narrative?

The reader learned that the people were camping, and we also learned that they were hungry and cold.

In this short text we realize that the author is not comfortable with the situation in which he is inserted.

    Explanation:

The paragraph above shows that the author was accompanying his uncle and a person named Mitch. The author is very uncomfortable with the situation in which he is inserted. He is cold, hungry, wet and wanting to get out of that place, but he was too far from the truck that could give the author more comfort. He will have to spend the night there, even against his will.
