Scout doesn't conform to the socially constructed gender roles females face. Instead of assuming a womanly stance, she is often seen as a tomboy and hangs out with mostly guys. If anything, Scout is an example of feminism. She is committing extremely courageous act at a very young age during a time where going against the female gender role would be seen with disapproval.
