    Since the two parts of this sentence are independent clauses, you can separate them using a semicolon.

    The ice cream tastes great; it is made in Vermont.

    You could also use a period, although this creates a choppier effect.

    The ice cream tastes great. It is made in Vermont.

    Either one is correct, however the first sentence flows more smoothly.
