The poet used puns or words with multiple interpretations in order to make the poem sound humorous. It also allows each reader to think differently from one another or to have the freedom to have his own interpretation of the poem.

    Explanation:

" (love song, with two gold fish) " is a poem written by Grace Chua. It centers on the love life of two gold fish in a bowl. Their love for each other was strong at the beginning, but soon it started fading away. This is because the male fish made impossible promises to the female fish that he will take her to the ocean. Nevertheless, he couldn't fulfill such promise and this made the female fish lose her love for him.

"Puns" are not only used to express humor but also to play with the sound of words. This allows poets to add interesting effects to the poem.
