How does Odysseus' conversation with his deceased mother emphasize his obligations to the living and/or the consequences of his absence? (book 11)

    i think his conversation with his mother motivates him and makes him want to go home to his wife and son even more. meaning he is more willing to do whatever it takes to get home. it was really a wake up call for him i believe
