Take the whole number times the denominator:
6 x 5 = 30
Take the product (in this case the 30) and add the numerator:
30 + 1 = 31
Take the numerator (again, in this case ours is 31) and put it over the original denominator aka the one you started with/had before you multiplied:
31/5
